Laboratory of Genetic Biotechnology

Formally, the division was founded in 2016 to develop genetic engineering approaches and new methods for diagnosing, treating and monitoring leukemia and solid tumors, but appropriate conditions were needed to implement high-tech scientific ideas. A significant event in 2019 was the opening of a laboratory complex that meets international standards for performing the tasks of the genetic biotechnology laboratory. The complex is fully used by employees of all divisions of the scientific department, and the genetic biotechnology laboratory works in close cooperation with  the immunological research laboratory .

Grand opening of the laboratory
on June 1, 2019.

Visit to the laboratory by the President
and the Minister of Health
on December 31, 2020.

The main areas of scientific activity of the laboratory are:

  • Molecular genetic diagnostics of acute lymphoblastic and myeloid leukemia, PCR analysis of minimal residual disease in leukemia.
  • Development of tumor immunotherapy methods using DNA vaccines. Clinical trials of idiotypic DNA vaccines against lymphomas, vaccines against neuroblastoma.
  • Research in the field of CAR-T therapy, obtaining CAR-T cell product for the treatment of leukemia and lymphomas.
  • Fundamental research into genetic engineering of lymphocytes and genetic modification of immune system cells.
