Clinical diagnostic laboratory
The main task of the clinical diagnostic laboratory of the Center, like any other diagnostic laboratory, is the diagnosis of diseases, with the only difference being that the diseases that our laboratory encounters are very complex – this is all pathologies of the blood system (anemia, thrombocytopathy, thrombocytopenia, hemoglobinopathies, coagulopathy, hemoblastoses), all malignant neoplasms, congenital and acquired immunodeficiencies. That is why the clinical diagnostic laboratory of the Center is a multidisciplinary laboratory that offers the widest range of various laboratory tests:
- hematological;
- general clinical;
- coagulological;
- biochemical;
- serological;
- immunohematological;
- cytogenetic;
- molecular biology;
- immunophenotypic;
- cytological.
The capabilities of our laboratory are not limited to primary diagnostics of the disease. Using special modern methods, we can measure the level of residual tumor cells in a patient after treatment (which is necessary for early diagnostics and treatment of relapse), select a compatible donor based on antigens of the major histocompatibility complex if a hematopoietic stem cell or bone marrow transplant is needed, and examine the engraftment of the transplant, determine the concentration of a number of drugs in the blood, and monitor changes in the patient’s condition during treatment and in the long-term period. For such a wide range of tasks, the laboratory is staffed with highly qualified employees, many of whom have first-class professional qualifications – they are candidates of science and have the first and highest qualification categories.
Our technical base is largely exclusive and includes equipment from the world’s leading manufacturers of laboratory equipment. These are biochemical analyzers Architect c8000 and c4000 (Abbott), hematology analyzers XN-3000 and XN-350 (Sysmex), flow cytometers DxFLEX and Navios (Beckman Coulter), blood gas and electrolyte analyzers for patients in critical condition ABL FLEX 835 and ABL 800 Basic (Radiometer), amplifiers, including CFX96 (Bio-Rad), StepOnePlus (Applied Biosystems), Gentier 96E (Tianlong Science and Technology), sequencer Genetic Analyzer 3500 (Applied Biosystems), coagulometers Compact Max (Stago) and ACL TOP350 (Instrumentation Laboratory), platelet function analyzer Multiplate (Verum Diagnostica), thromboelastometer Rotem ( Werfen ), centrifuge-reader for ID cards Saxo ID Reader II (Bio-Rad), microscopes from Leica, Olympus, Nikon and much more.
Every day, the laboratory carries out about 3,500 studies. We strive to ensure that their results are in demand and reliable. This is facilitated by a well-established multi-level quality control system. Our laboratory also cares about an independent assessment of our work, for which it participates in national and international systems for quality control of laboratory studies. The high quality of our work is confirmed by international EQAS (External Quality Assurance Services) certificates.
Close ties with the Center’s scientific department allow us to integrate the most modern laboratory technologies and methods into routine laboratory practice every year, which increases the efficiency of our work and improves the quality and diagnostic value of our research.
